The Eastern Region of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. represents a proud legacy of leadership, service, and scholarship across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern United States, and countries around the world. Rooted in the fraternity’s motto, Culture for Service and Service for Humanity, the Eastern Region is home to a diverse network of collegiate and alumni chapters dedicated to uplifting communities and fostering brotherhood.

For men interested in joining Phi Beta Sigma, the Eastern Region offers a welcoming and supportive environment to grow personally and professionally while making a meaningful impact. Membership is open to men who demonstrate high moral character, academic excellence, and a passion for service.

Candidates of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity cannot hold active or previous membership in another intercollegiate fraternity, other than an honorary or professional fraternity.
Candidates for membership in Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity must apply to a chapter in the region where they reside, based upon the terms and conditions outlined in the Fraternity’s membership intake and development process.

Membership Requirements are below for Collegiate, Alumni, and Associate members:

Joining the Eastern Region of Phi Beta Sigma connects you to a network of accomplished and service-oriented men, providing mentorship, lifelong friendships, and opportunities to leave a lasting legacy in your community. Take the first step toward becoming a Sigma man and building a better future today!

  • Enrollment at a college or university with a four year degree program.
  • At least A 2.5 cumulative grade point average. If the college/university you attend requires a higher cumulative grade point average, that will be the minimum.
  • A minimum of 12 credit hours.
  • A legacy of community service.
  • Professional, detail oriented, eager to work, and ready to serve.
  • Civic minded.
  • Payment of all initiation fees.
  • Successful completion of the Membership Intake Process (M.I.P.).
  • Candidates must not currently be a member of or have previously been a member of another intercollegiate fraternity other than an honorary or professional fraternity.
  • All new members must join through the chapter at their college/university campus.
  • Hold a college degree.
  • A legacy of community service.
  • Professional, detail oriented, eager to work, and ready to serve.
  • Civic minded.
  • Payment of all initiation fees.
  • Candidates must not currently be a member of or have previously been a member of another intercollegiate fraternity other than an honorary or professional fraternity.
  • Payment of All Initiation Fees.
  • Successful Completion Of The Membership Intake Process (M.I.P.).
  • All new members must join through an active alumni chapter.
  • Enrollment at a college or university with a four year degree program.
  • At least A 2.5 cumulative grade point average. If the college/university you attend requires a higher cumulative grade point average, that will be the minimum.
  • College or university must not have an active charter at that Institution.
  • A minimum of 12 credit hours
  • Can only participate in membership intake through an alumni chapter.
  • A legacy of community service.
  • Professional, detail oriented, eager to work, and ready to serve.
  • Civic minded.
  • Payment of All Initiation Fees.
  • Candidates must not currently be a member of or have previously been a member of another intercollegiate fraternity other than an honorary or professional fraternity.
  • Successful completion of the Membership Intake Process (M.I.P.).
  • All new members must join through an active alumni chapter.
